Planting the Seed
How it all started
Sharing the Word Ministry was founded by James and Darlene McEwen of Jonesborough, TN. Though both are retired and in their 80's, God still had a plan for their life wherein they could serve Him. While visiting a church in West Tennessee, a man stood up and gave a testimony about leading a woman to Christ. He went on to say he had then given her a Bible, since he believed she would need to know more about God as she grew in her new faith.
On the drive home to East Tennessee, James said to his wife, "Maybe we should be doing that. Maybe we should be giving out Bibles to help people." The seed had been planted, and as a lifelong farmer, James knew just how to water it and make it grow.
For the past several years, the McEwen's have been purchasing Bibles by the truckload and driving the local country backroads, stopping at small churches and locations as God inspires them, handing out KJV Bibles, tracts, children's Bibles, and Christian ministry materials, all free of charge. They have even recruited a few wonderful volunteers along the way, and hope to keep the ministry alive and active, so long as God provides.
Special Areas of Ministry
Part of our ministry is the reaching out to children and Spanish-speaking individuals, in the handing out of children's storybook Bibles and Spanish language Bibles.

The preaching is relevant, Christ-centered, Biblical, and focuses on Christian living and the old time simple plan of salvation through the grace and shedding of blood of Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to save our sins.
